Project Design
Planning Through Conversation
At Freedom General Contracting, clear communication guides every stage of your project. We listen closely to your goals and concerns so we can create a space that truly reflects how you want to live. Throughout the process, we stay in consistent contact, ensuring you always feel informed, supported, and confident in the work we’re doing.

We will measure the existing areas to be affected by the project(s).

We will discuss visions and priorities, known wants and needs and dislikes. We will brainstorm together to have a solid point of departure and find design focused solutions. We will set goals together. Any specific details to be incorporated into the project would be helpful.

We invite any images from magazines, online idea helpers (such as Pinterest or Houzz, etc.) to help create a design concept and curate selections, keeping budget in mind.

Our goal for the first meeting will be for our designer to have the tools to begin and create a solid plan and create renderings to help our clients to visualize the overall design.

Correspondence while designing is helpful to aid in steering the direction of the final design.

We will meet to go over floor plans or any renderings that express and confirm design concepts.

During this time, we are gathering information that will be helpful to find out fixed pricing. We will work on details and product specifications needed to generate a written fixed cost proposal for the project.

Final Concept plans are presented reflecting thoughts/decisions that have been made through the previous steps and time spent figuring out a plan together. At this point, we will have a conversation of cost or “temperature check” for cost to make sure we are on target for budget.

Depending on the size and scope of the project, additional steps and/or meetings may be required to develop the project fixed cost before the construction contract can be in writing.

Our goal is to finalize decisions on the overall plan and products used for the project. We try to minimize “to be determined” items and really strive to gather all information needed before moving forward.

We orchestrate a day and time that the Designer, Project Manager, and any Trade Partners/Subcontractors will walk through together to discuss the details of the scope of their work to devise a plan for the project to be done. It is a great time for questions to be answered and to finalize any details, instructions, etc. at one time.

A detailed written scope will be presented based on the project design with a fixed cost along with the final construction agreement.

Plans for the permit and timing of construction will be established after the acceptance of the construction contract.

Once the design phase is finalized, we transition into the next steps of construction, bringing your plans to life with precision, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. This structured approach helps the project move smoothly, minimizes surprises, and keeps your timeline and budget on track.
Before breaking ground, we review all final details with you—architectural plans, material selections, the full construction scope, timeline, and pricing. We also explore cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety.
Once you’re confident and ready, a 10% deposit is collected, officially moving your project from the design phase into construction. If you decide not to proceed, all design materials remain yours with no further obligation.
The pre-construction phase, lasting 5–6 weeks, lays the groundwork for a smooth build, focusing on planning, permitting, and coordination.
Freedom General Contracting handles structural engineering, permit submissions, and finalizes all design selections to ensure long-lead items are ordered on time. Behind the scenes, the project transitions from the design team to production staff, aligning resources with your timeline.
During the on-site pre-construction meeting, we review logistics, material deliveries, and any special household accommodations, ensuring construction begins on schedule and with confidence.With plans finalized, permits secured, and materials on site, the construction phase begins. Throughout this stage, your design-build team manages subcontractors, schedules, and daily progress, providing a single point of contact for all questions and updates.
This streamlined approach allows for quick problem-solving, consistent quality control, and clear communication, including weekly updates through your client portal. With the same team overseeing both design and construction, we keep the project on track, on schedule, and moving smoothly from start to finish.
As construction nears completion, we perform thorough quality checks and walkthroughs to ensure every detail meets both your expectations and our high standards.
